The Minor Global Health program at Erasmus University Rotterdam is a 12-week course for 3rd year Bachelor students (Medicine, Clinical Technology, Life Sciences, Health Policy & Management and others interested). The course is organized such that students have lectures, masterclasses and practicals for 5 weeks, where after they go abroad for about 6 weeks to experience Health & Healthcare in a completely different setting and culture. The Minor is concluded with two Symposia, one where students present their experiences abroad, and one with a specific topic with invited speakers.
We started our Minor Global Health in 2010 as a rather small program: 33 students going to 3 countries (Malawi, Zambia and Suriname). Since then the program has grown to include around 120 students going to 45 institutes in 18 different countries in 2019 (Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Suriname, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Iran, Oman, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and Vietnam). This year marks the 10th anniversary of our Minor Global Health program. To celebrate this, we are organizing a two-day symposium 'Global Health in Perspective' on 7 & 8 November 2019. The Symposium will have 4 main 'tracks': 'Global Health Education', 'Climate Change & Global Health', 'Facts & Myths' and 'Research in Global Health'.
All prospective students as well as MGH alumni will take part in the program. We are also inviting all faculty and former Masterclass lecturers as well as all Global Health coordinators from the 45 participating institutes abroad. Looking at the speakers who already confirmed and knowing all who are planning to come, the symposium really promises to be a very special Global Health event at a very beautiful location!
Looking forward to see you in Rotterdam on 7 & 8 November as well!!
Registration is OPEN!!
